Copied from the annual e-mail:

2010 Sacramento Delta Steamboat Regatta

Captains & crew please mark the calendar for the 36th. Annual Sacramento Delta Steamboat Regatta held at the B&W Resort, 964 Brannan Island Rd., (Delta Loop) Isleton, CA., 95641 (916-777-6161). The official dates are Sept. 24 to Sept. 26, 2010. (Many come early and stay late though i.e. Thurs-Mon)

This year will be much the same as last with boat rides, picnics, potlucks and visit with old and new acquaintances.

Again, the meet is in the later part of September and the weather should be ideal for boating with sunny days and cool nights.

The boats should start leaving the B&W docks on Saturday morning around 10:00 to make the approximately one hour cruise on the Mokelumne River to Westgate Landing at Terminous. The shaded picnic area has ample tables and lawn area to sit and enjoy our picnic lunches and drinks.

Saturday afternoon, upon returning to the dock area at B&W Resort, a swap meet will be held. If you have nothing to sell or buy, then grab a frosty ice cream or cool drink and relax while you visit with fellow steamers.

At 6 o’clock, Saturday night the group has a potluck dinner held on the levee road (between the upper cabins & the boat dock). Please bring your plate, silverware, drinks and a favorite dish (or dishes) to share. Appetites are hardy and main dishes, salads, and deserts are always delicious. B&W provides the tables and benches. They request that we NOT remove the kitchen tables & chairs from the cabins. A short meeting will be held after dinner with the usual announcements and presentations.

Night voyages on Georgiana Slough or the Mokelumne River are relaxing and fun, so illuminate those running lights and fire up those engines for your night run. Whistle and siren blowing is encouraged!

The B&W Resort Store has prepared food and is well stocked with ice, soft drinks, beer, snacks, ice cream and sundries for sale. They also offer tractor assistance when launching and getting the boats back out of the water and back on their trailers. Thank you, Joan, Jim, their family and the staff for hosting our group for the last 36 years!

Please bring your steam cars, RC toys, models and antique engines for show and tell. Always of interest are steam projects in the making!

As an added attraction from Sept. 19 to Sept. 26, the Military Vehicle Collectors of California will, again, have a display at the Stockton Delta KOA located at Tower Park. Last year the collection of vehicles was an attention grabber and the owners were more than glad to answer questions about their rolling stock. By boat, you can ride up the south fork of the Mokelumne River, to reach Tower Park.

On Sept, 25, the Annual Wooden Boat Festival will be held at Perry’s Marina and Resort located on the Mokelumne River or at 500 Brannan Island Rd, Isleton. We are sure to see many classic wooden boats on the water and then dockside.

For those wishing to go out to breakfast, lunch or dinner, four good choices are Moores Riverboat, Happy Harbor Marina, Lighthouse Marina and Pirates Lair Café all reachable by boat or car on Brannan Island Road). Rosas Italian at Tower Park, (by car at 14900 W. Highway 12, Lodi) is highly recommended, too.

See you soon and let’s make it a safe, fun and memorable occasion.

Regards,

Jerry & Phyllis Blain
