Re: Hot well size
""does anyone have a half way elegant way to insulate a 3/8" copper pipe?"" Clothes line. It takes a while to install, but it works. Inexpensive too. Once you install the economizer, you'll see a marked improvement in plant performance. The hotwell temp will be irrelevant. ...

Re: Funnel height ?
My personal preference is the other way round! The inner projects an inch or two above the outer!

Re: Safety Valves for sale
Did not read your full reply. Yes they are both 3/4" BSP threaded, both the outlet(F) and the connection to boiler (M). If you want I can make enquiries to Nabic and check the spring situation. Phil

Safety Valves for sale
I have 2 Nabic 3/4" Safety Valves for sale if anyone interested. Happy to sell them singly. Both about 20 years old and (roughly) set for 125 psi. I think the existing springs, which are in fair condition, would be ok in the range 100 to 150 psi; outside that new ones can be got from Nabic. The...

Re: Using TSP as boiler cleaner
Thanks every one for your useful answers. My particular problem is that my boiler inspector likes me to completely fill the boiler via injector at the end of a days run to "kill the oxygen". My boiler capacity is around 40 gals (UK gals that is!) and the difference between working level an...

Re: Using TSP as boiler cleaner
Gosh! Thanks guys, replies in less than 24 hours; wonderful. :D I too have heard that oil is not really a problem in our low pressure boilers as they simply do not get hot enough for the oil to carbonise. My problem is that having a canal boat, my make up water is often very muddy and the combinatio...

Using TSP as boiler cleaner
I wonder, does anyone have any experience of using TSP (tri sodium phosphate) as a cleaning agent to remove oily deposits from inside a boiler? My boiler seems to collect oil whatever I do to try to keep it out! Suggestions as to strength of solution etc would be most welcome as well as info on poss...

Re: Circulating water requirements
Have just had the covers off my condenser. Its area is a shade over 12 sq feet which should be OK for 12 HP. It was pretty muddy inside but otherwise OK. I had suspected some blockage as the return water temp has got pretty darn high of late around 80-90 deg C. Obviously not the condenser so I shall...
