I did buy a Lunkenheimer Banner one for a gas engine and modified it for steam use... maybe. It held pressure yesterday BUT will it lube, w...

Olfelt pt. Deux
After 2 expeditions WITHOUT being scalded or having to swim, it seems the boiler is a success. Wes timed it to 35psi in 13 minutes, I'm happy with that, and it makes more steam that we can use. In fact I found out that either my pressure gauge is off or my safety valve is off. We saw 210 psi while r...

Re: S/S Martha
Welcome, glad to have you. Hope it all works out to your liking and hope you will be in the water, the boat that is, soon. Winter here is just about over and we had our first ride of the year last week. It really is a most enjoyable hobby and can be QUITE frustrating at times. Now I'm off the the SB...

Re: Loo Solutions
Porta Potty works for the wife, but we do have a cuddy up front that it lives in and doors to enclose it, but yer head does stick out the top a bit... oh well. Now from what I understand it is legal to pee overboard (except maybe for the exposing yourself issue) BUT it's REALLY illegal to pee in a c...

I didn't see any mention of the all time classic; Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel. A story full of drama, angst, and redemption.... at least as I remember it, being 6 or 7 at the time, maybe that's what started it all for me? Also check out Rudyard Kiplings; Steam Tactics, a short story about his ...

Re: Boiler costs ?
Well I've got more than that in just metal for the one I just built, and that doesn't account for welding gas, rods, electricity, fittings insulation, and just general stuff. It's not a cheap endeavor, and unless you live in an industrial area, I DON'T, but we've got great wine!, finding good used st...
