A reproduction! Nice!!

Reproduction? No, it isn't. An Original car restoration.

I laugh, steamboaters are generally nice and not judgemental, roll four wheels under something and it's ''cue the jerks''...

Re: Frances-Anne

Pete,

Well, that's not good. I think with the whole plandemic, we're all having to make unwanted adjustments to the new world order. Don't be a stranger here, we all enjoy your postings.

Take care, Ron

Re: Bearer Material Selection

Another Opine. Just lagbolt to the hull about every four inches. Use marine bedding compound or Lifecaulk in between. Make them from white oak, Cypress or mahogany, then seal and paint with marine paint (porch paint). Sealing them with epoxy, once oil and water get in around the drilled holes, they'...

Re: Steam engine from the North Caucasus

Very good machine work. When I made the eccentrics for my Locomobile the keyway on the crankshaft is in line with the crank throw top dead center, if I remember correctly. The keyways in the eccentrics are set at 45 degrees to low lobe. Your engine timing may be different. It looks like you have a k...

Re: Need a 1" NPT Hoffman 1140-05 Valve BODY Unit ONLY

I found your other thread that shows the valve inside. I Would bore out the old seats and thread them, then make and install stainless seats. Stainless stem and valves also. Then bore out the valve guides and line with 932 bronze. With those tiny bronze contact area valves and seats it was never int...

Re: Need a 1" NPT Hoffman 1140-05 Valve BODY Unit ONLY

I'd get with someone who has pattern making and machining skills and have a new body cast and then machined. Go on some of the scale locomotive, or home shop machinist forums, this is routine for them. What about altering a 1'' whistle valve? Which is essentially a poppet valve My guess as to whats ...

Show us where that valve goes and it's purpose. Whats wrong with just piping in a 1" union and steam rated ball valve?

Re: 1901 Conrad steamer

Hi Dietrich, Thanks, I have never created a report on this project. It was a very extensive restoration beginning with it's chassis that was destroyed in a barn fire, I had to replace all tubing in chassis, make patterns and cast new front axle yokes. The wood body was in very bad condition and the ...

Re: Monotube Javelin

Congrats on your new build. Sounds like you had good success for a first run, there's always issues to work out. When I look back at the first run of the tug, there have been a lot of changes since then. We were fighting to hold 30 psi. Taking on feedwater we may as well have dropped anchor with no ...
