thanks for all your comments some good advice and observations there, but I can actually see play in the mains and the big end's so will eventually dig in deeper as I say luckily Stuart's are about 1 hours drive from me so can make sure stuff is right before I buy

thanks for the reply I did think it might be the BFP but wasn't sure I thought it might be air or vacuum pump as it has a rather large piston. I did workout the chain drive bit ππ£ (it was connected I took it off as I didn't want to run it dry) and as for the cam I did think another pump but wasn't ...

Kevin Slater, ex Chairman of the SBA is an SBA inspector I believe, aswell as a boiler maker. Not sure where in Somerset you are but he's based in the Chew Valley. Thanks for that chew valley is right on my doorstep π You can't be far from me then either! I'm in Priddy not a lot of water up here π

The first pump is the boiler feed water pump. The roller chain needs to be mounted on the sprocket on the crankshaft. The brass pipe is the delivery to the boiler.
