Is rusting much of a problem to steam engine?
Hi Guys, Newbie here with lots of questions. Guess the most pressing to me is how much rust developes on a steam engine used in salt water? Is it a constant battle to keep an engine running if the engine is used irregularly? Have been dreaming about a steam powered sternwheeler for a couple of years...

gracefulghost, It is good to see you here. Was trying to get up there this spring when the steam boat gathering was but missed it. Still trying to get that way before the fall sets in. A paddlewheel boat big enough for us grandparents and some grand kids at the same time is a dream of mine. Rich S. ...

fredrosse, The sidewheeler is looking great. When I first saw it of the boat forum, wondered why a sidewheeler and not a sternwheeler.
