Re: Anyone used Tinytech plants steam engine?
Wow. I haven't checked back with tinytech in awhile. They really have stepped up their game. $650 for a 2.5 hp steam engine is a STEAL. (Although shipping it will probably drive the cost up quite a ways.) Still, an assembled steam engine of comparable IHP from almost any other source will run you in...

Re: Walking Beam for sale
It would probably be nice to watch this engine with its novel crosshead design, although it is not really a walking beam engine, but a common vertical engine with a novel crosshead system. We have already had a discussion about this one within this forum, under "How does this engine work?". Evident...

Bronze Props
So I came across a couple Bronze 11 x 13 props while at an estate sale a while back. I've had them sitting in my basement on my workbench for a while. I was planning on using one of them for my own build and selling the other. However, life being what it is we were thrown a curve and blessed with a ...

Re: Pump to convert to a Steam engine?
Bart, I gotta know, How did you deal with the fact that your slide valve operated at the same angle as the orientation of your drive shaft? Unfortunately, the pictures on your website really don't tell the tale (BTW, you REALLY gotta update that thing brother.) The one really good shot of your slide...

Re: Pump to convert to a Steam engine?
Interesting. You wouldn't happen to have a link to converting a gasoline engine? I happen to have a push lawn mower (briggs and stratton 6HP gasoline) that quit over the summer due to never being maintained. i suspect the spark plug needs to be replaced, but i was given a free replacement before I h...

Pump to convert to a Steam engine?
Hey all, it's been awhile. Life has taken me far afield from the steam hobby, but I'm circling back around again and trying once more to put some kind of steam boat together. Since I have discovered that a traditional steam engine is simply out of my reach, I have been looking for alternatives that ...

Re: Locomobile engine useable in a boat?
Well, with an Engine like that you have three choices: 1. Build a side paddler. An engine of that design is ideal for side paddler use, as long as you mount it properly. 2. Modify the engine. Fabricate plate and bar stock frame to go around the lower section of the engine to hold it in a vertical po...

Re: Tiny Tech India
Very helpful analysis. I would certainly view his products more as a starting point than as a complete and finished package. They are still a work in progress as of the last time I emailed with him. We discussed how to tie multiple Stephenson links together as on a compound engine. By now I hope he...

Re: Tiny Tech India
I noted this in the other thread, but I think it bears repeating here; These engines are VERY much the "rough and ready" type. They are workhorse engines originally designed for stationary power generation. As such they have NO frills at all. The frames on these engines are basic welded flat plate s...
