Hypro pumps
Hi guys, Not been around for awhile, isn't that the nature of forums at times? It appears that hypro pumps may no longer be being made, which is a great shame, as they are fantastic wee things. Does anyone know of someone that has 5330 service kits still, or even a complete new pump, that will ship ...

Re: Steam Launch "JJ"
Interesting video, that's a serious lot of horse power for a boat that size. With that big a boiler I doubt the Navy K would ever run out of steam. Do you happen to know where the boiler came from Wes?

Welcome to the forum. Those few photos are absolute gems, and I really can't wait to see more of what you have. The beauty of old photographs is they were always taken very carefully, so reproduce well and show astounding detail that is often hard to see in modern photos of similar subjects. I look f...

Re: Pressure Washer Pumps for Feedwater
I'll agree with Mike. We've used a Hypro 5330 on Kapanui for years, and it hasn't been touched since it went into the boat. There is a strainer in the hotwell to prevent any muck getting to the pump, but basically it hasn't given a moments grief in over 10 years of use. I've got a 5321 sitting on th...

Re: Simpson Strickland engine
There are a number of the smaller Kingdon engines about in UK, USA and one in NZ mainly of the 1/4A,A & AB sizes, I suspect this is the only B (or larger) engine left and certainly the only one capable of operation. Regards Jack There are actually two in NZ, both AB sized engines, the one commonly ...

Shhh, Don't mention that kind of thing on here, the US boiler squad will be down on you like a ton of bricks, telling you that stainless tube can't be used and that we'll all die, because that's what some ASME reg says. Never mind that the tube probably has a burst rating of 5000 psi etc etc. A frie...

Re: Steam Thruster?
Does this mean I can't build my long term planned 60 footer in future? On a 60 foot single screw steamer I'm definitely having a bow thruster!Lopez Mike wrote:It's not clear to me what all of this has to do with steam launches.

Re: Next Weekend II
Congratulations guys. That is quite some achievement. Putting any steamboat into action is quite some job, doing a full size one with all the duplicate systems is even more of an achievement. Glad it went so well, even without any extra work it wouldn't likely go for years as it is, so I hope your d...
