Re: For Sale by Auction 13th March '20 Steam Launch - 'Dyad'
They have removed the contact email address yes, I didn't create the listing and I've let them know. However the phone number remains anf you can message using ebays message system. If anyone has any questions they can ask on here and I will do my best to reply, but the best thing would be to ring t...

Re: Circulating water requirements
What does anyone make of the above data? Does it suggest anything to anyone in terms of what could be root cause of the issues?

Re: Circulating water requirements
I have been advising Dave Coates on this recently, I came up with a figure of 20 to 35 times the volume of feed water used to be supplied as cooling water with a surface condenser. This is a ball park figure of course taken from an old text book about sea going ships, I would imagine with cool cana...

Re: Circulating water requirements
If you can post the cooling water (in and out) temps as well as the condensate temp leaving the air pump, we can try to determine if the problem is a too small condenser or an airleak somewhere/airpump that's too small. I will tabulate and graph this a bit when i get an evening, but as Ive got the ...

Re: Ball bearing eccentric
If you can keep them well oiled, you're fine, but absent a little dip pan underneath, they tend to run dry from time to time. Fair enough. We have a mechanical lubricator which oils everything which needs more than a daily oil, including the four eccentrics so have yet to have an issue with then ru...

Re: Circulating water requirements
The reason for my asking the question, is that I am not convinced that our otherwise very satisfactory circulating pump flows enough to allow the airpump/condenser to develop as much vacuum as it might otherwise. Obviously if not pre-heating your feed water you can over cool the condensate. However ...

Re: Circulating water requirements
Its really interesting that this topic is at the top of the list, because I was literally coming on to ask the same question myself. EmilyAnne is a very similar setup to Adamant, the hulls/boilers/engine are I would say similar enough to be considered almost the same for this exercise although we ru...
