Re: Dynamo/Gen Set
Automotive alternators work fine, you just need to spin them fast enough - ours produces 20 -30 amps at normal running speed..... we gear it up by about 13:1 from the crank... (2-stage, ,chain then belt)... the following table gives charging current v engine and alternator RPM...from my spreadsheet ...

I machined this on my old Harrison L5 and Rambaudi turret mill and the...

We bought an ageing Seafarer depth sounder for Befur on eBay (about 20 pounds) and installed a through-hull sensor, and it does provide a certain peace of mind

Re: Oil burner consumption
Thanks Malcolm. Figures out to around 3 g.p.h. in imperial units. And comparing boats my little launch should use more like 2 or less. Mike, just re-read this... I may have misunderstood your comment, but my figures were already in US Gallons - so I think (given on v off time) the consumption shoul...

Re: Oil burner consumption
Befur (27ft) uses a 1.75Gph burner nozzle on Diesel and runs a duty cycle of about 75:25 (on v off), driving a Leak Compound.
