-When has the last hydraulic test been done on the boiler and to what pressure? -Where are they leaking? -What are you using for boiler water treatment? -What are you using for fuel? -Has the boiler been run with low water? If so, how low and how long? -Any photos of tubes/tube sheet on fire and wat...

Re: Best Venue to Advertize Sale of a Steamboat

Mack, I was given some drawings from John York that are of the Tule Princess and some of the machinery. I believe he had done some machine work for David Sarlin in her construction. I had them scanned by a local blueprint shop. Where can I send the digital files?

Re: Traditional Steam Launch Propeller

On the Sandin we used to have to pull weeds off the prop every time we left the dock. Eurasian milfoil was the bane of our existence. We used one of these 3-tined gardening tools to rip and pull the stuff off the prop. https://www.homedepot.com/p/DeWit-52-in-L-handle-55-in-L-3-Tine-Long-Handle-Culti...

I'm 38, and there's a number of steamboat interested folks around here in their 20's and 30's... Unfortunately cost of living makes it all but impossible for them to afford even a used one as storage and a place to work on it becomes the main issue.

Re: Adding a fresh water tank...

Hi Bart,

On the Sandin we have a 35 gallon tank. With steam atomizing and excessive use of the whistle we could steam a whole weekend+ without refilling.

3+5x4" scripps compound (approximately 200rpm), Semple VFT40 boiler, York/Williams steam atomizing burner.

Hi Fred, What part of California is the concern you're consulting for located? Make it out that way much? What kind of square footage of heating surface and hp figures are you looking at getting out of that plant? Room to force it and turn it up to eleven? 15mph is well past the contemporary hobby s...

Hi Mac, International Steamboat Society is all but defunct. The guy running it kind of slipped away into the ether. A few places I would suggest are: https://www.smokstak.com/forum/forums/steam-engines-parts-accessories.243/ https://discoverlivesteam.com/discoverforsale/marine.html The 'Marine steam...

Re: Steam engine from the North Caucasus

Hello,

Unfortunately I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to metric measurements, so I might not be the best help with figuring it out... I'll try to give it a go at converting, then converting back perhaps haha.

Did you make that roll form yourself?
