The Steamboating Website (seperate from the forum)

I've had a thought. Rather than people donating money to the forum (because I don't like the idea of me running a charity) why not help contribute some of your time to the forum and the website (which I am currently working on). When I say working on the website, I have just made a blank file called...

Re: Hello again from Pete

If you don't have anyone else to set it up, I can. Thanks for the offer. I know more about the technicalities of computers than the average IT geek, I just hate using the sodding things! My main problem with all this hosting and domain registering is I have no physical object to throw across the ro...

I've seen that one before, very amusing. Also seems somewhat true.

Floods in Cumbria, UK

For those of you who do not know, Cumbria has been hit by torrential rain and very bad flooding over in the West of the county. Windermere was 2.7 foot higher this time than the last highest mark. I already know of one steam boat which has hit the roof of its boat house and then sunk. There ate 2 mo...

Re: Hello again from Pete

Hi Pete

The cost of the forum is bearly anything. £4 a month and £24 every 2 years = £5 a month. Hardly a bank breaker.

Its the time needed to set it up which is the killer. I have been on with it for a week now every night and all weekend. Learning most of it from scratch.

Re: To get a triple

When we did a brake test on the Elliot Bay under non-ideal conditions we got 6.4 BHP. That was with no vacuum, no superheat, no lagging on the very long steam pipe and not full pressure on the boiler.

I am pretty certain that 15 IHP would be obtainable, maybe 12 SHP if everything is right.

John Cleese is an incredibly funny man.

Beknownst for his role in Fawlty Towers and Monty Python, but unbeknownst to most, he started his career in making TV programmes for teaching accountancy.

Re: Renewing

Thats an excellent idea artemis, I shall keep it in mind for the future. Now I have got the forum on my own hosting site, I have full control over everything. The php software has the ability to alter pretty much everything so I can make it to look and work how it best suits the forum members. I agr...
