Re: Wheel sizes ?
Umm ... yes actually. Prop all sorted. Due to falling temperatures and my workshop being unheated the use of adhesives and resins has pretty much come to a halt until the spring. So I’m now focussing on anything metallic that needs preparing. I need to fit a slip eccentric to my WW2 auxiliary engine...

Wheel sizes ?
Thinking ahead a bit now and on the lookout for a second hand wheel, but what overall diameter would be best for my 15 ft launch.
Many thanks as always

Re: Cylinder head gasket material ?
Brilliant, many thanks everyone. Progress on my launch is good. Just completed the double skin and am now about to fit the skeg and stern gear. Hopefully I will get this bit completed before the new year as the workshop is too cold for the glues and resins. I will then have to look at the engine ins...

Re: Cylinder head gasket material ?
Thanks for that.
I’m I’ve got some RTV hiding somewhere.
When I got the engine the cylinder head and retaining nuts were in a box of bits and I just assumed that a gasket was needed as there is the fragments of one there.

Re: ST Harold Brown - missing photos
It’s very likely to be a slip eccentric.
Some might disagree, but I rather like the unconventional ... that’s why we’re steamboaters after all.

Re: Cutlass Bearing V Bronze Outer Bearing ?
I’ve been advised both ways, but the local consensus is towards a cutlass bearing and I respect their advice ... and yours to.
So a cutless bearing it’ll be.
Something like this.
Thanks

A lovely engine with an interesting bit of history.
I just thought I’d share with you a few pictures and a bit of history of the engine I’ve just acquired for my build. It was originally an auxiliary engine in the Steam Tug “Woelwater”, built by E. J. Smit F Zoon in the Netherlands in 1928. In 1937 she was sold to Shoreham Harbour Trustees and rename...
