Re: Fitting stringers and bulkheads to GRP hull

Hello Pete

For a boat in our size, just go with the direct fixing forget about tabs. I have a 17 foot west system plywood boat and the hull is totally rigid.

Re: Hello and a few questions!

Hi Jim

First of all, go and look at boats and talk to the owners. There are many 25 foot boats ( and over) in the UK which are towed all over the place. Most use LR's of some type but not all.

Re: Greetings from Maryland

Hi
www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk

Shieldhall must be the largest steamer on our books at 268 feet long and build quite late 1955 and even she has Up and Downers rather than turbines

Re: Funnel height ?

Well the answer seems to be , a bit higher or a bit lower, take your pick. Like most things in steamboating, very rarely is there one correct solution.

Re: Boiler insulation

I need to fill the voids behind the steam and mud tubes on my Lune Valley boiler but I’m not sure what to use. I have been recommended to use foil backed blankets from Heritage Steam but they cost ££££££s Here’s a link https://www.heritagesteamsupplies.co.uk/foil-backed-double-sided-tc-superwool-50...

Re: Lune Valley boiler insulation question, my last ... hone

Would the downcomers be the pipes that connect the two tubes? If so, then I understand what you mean and will fill in those spaces. I’m pretty sure that we are talking about the same area. Will try and post some pictures of work in progress Thanks guys Yes all of that empty space can be filled with...
