Re: building a steam condenser

In terms of size, you can never have it too large. Given an ideal air pump, which can create an absolute vacuum, then the limiting factor for the vacuum it can create is dependant on the temperature of the water entering it. E.g. if your condensate was 60C, the vacuum generated cannot be greater tha...

Re: Nuts and Bolts

I have found these to go well together: Stainless nut onto Stainless thread, fine. E.g. for engine columns. Stainless nut onto Steel & BZP Steel. E.g. most common nuts and bolts. BZP Steel nuts onto BZP Steel threads clamping onto aluminium. E.g. an Aluminium cover plate. *Note that Stainless and Al...

I was only 2 years old in 1986. I remember being on a rally in 1986 though, I think it was Norfolk.

An ejector is an easy device. A good ejector needs a bit of precision work but using a proven and calculated design (such as the one in the Funnel) is the best way to go.

The LP is 8". http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff82/Thesteamboatforum/Engines/Simpson%20Strickland/IMG_7103.jpg http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff82/Thesteamboatforum/Engines/Simpson%20Strickland/IMG_7102.jpg http:...

Re: How many of us ARE there?

One reason I made this forum was to make it as easy as possible for the non-computer type folk to read and write about Steamboats.

There will always be some people who will never use the internet, so hopefully us who do will be able to aid them with any problems they have.

We do still get sunshine up here don't we?
