Re: Olfelt

My friend Bruce has a LARGE lathe so no problem as far as replacing coils..... good luck. Yes you can get in there to repair a weld but pretty impossible to replace a coil with out MAJOR surgery

Re: Olfelt

Yeah, that's why I was thinking of long and short tubes, short ones at the bottom; ie cooler, tall tubes (inside central drum that is) toward the top. Enough temp difference to move the water? Have to build a test rig oy! Resized pic.... STILL to large, will try again.rp

Movin' along slowly, but making progress with boiler, so before going any farther along decided to check welds. Hydrolocked boiler and connected it to shop air and ran it up slowly; maxed out compressor 130ish psi. Damn, I guess I'm better at welding than I thought; NO leaks. So next step will be to...

Re: flexible steam supply line

Yes there are SS flex pipes, corrugated on the inside and braided outside, available in many sizes and lengths. I know people use them in Stanleys which run 600psi. Only bad thing is the corrugations; they are really bad for flow, use the next size up to help out there rp

Re: digital steam engine indicator

i did make one using a laptop scope adapter ( for portability). They can be made pretty simply; you need a pressure transducer ; one that will work within your pressure range and a way to see where the crankshaft lies. This I made out of a optical sensor with light source ( one unit with led source)...

injector

Check out some recent back issues of "Live Steam", a couple of months ago they had a series of articles on building your own injector. I didn't save those ( I'm NEVER going to build one!) BUT if I still remember them they must have been pretty recent! rp
