Re: boat plans

Quote: "'18 gage mild steel sheet, primed on both sides. In service, it is constantly exposed to high humidity from the cylinder cocks. It rusted through in four years.'' Primer of the spray bomb variety is the worst protective coating there is, it's porous and holds moisture. If steel is sandblaste...

Re: boat plans

This would be a good fast build in steel or aluminum. Steel: 1/4x2 frames, 3/8 x3 keel, 12 GA on the bottom 14 GA on the sides. Need a plasma arc to cut the skin. Need to calculate weight displacement. Aluminum: If money is no object. https://www.reliablesteam.com/new/boats.php?iid=BT05 https://www....

Re: Artemis Has A New Home

I can carry enough wood under the wheelhouse floor for 30 mile range. Some on the aftdeck for 50. Coal takes up about half as much room for that much fuel.

Re: Steam Tug Alva B - Engine Question

"The double rocking valve arrangement on the Alva B has me stumped.'' What we may be looking at is rotary valves that are actually two valves in one, an inlet on one end and an exhaust on the other. Another thing to keep in mind is that is a drawing and often times details are not accurate, many old...

Re: Steam Tug Alva B - Engine Question

The big Corliss engines used rotary valves like that on each end of the cylinder, and I think one for inlet and one for exhaust to combat the temperature fluctuations encountered when using one valve for both. That may explain the extra valve gear. Incidentally I've read that that was one of the iss...

Mount a small master cylinder on the frame of the wheelchair with an actuator lever and quick disconnect for the pull cable. This same lever could have a handle as well to use sans bike attachment. The only way to brake two independent wheels equally is via hydraulics or pneumatic.

Re: Steam Yacht Cangarda FOR SALE

That price is comical, must've used a tumbola. Beautiful boat, for the money, I'd rather have ENA.
