Re: 2 stroke conversion
Hi Just a (late) thought in passing. Keep an eye on, or even place an ad on the SBA Small Ads site, assuming that your are a Member. There are boilers in garages that Members have bought and put on one side for when they have time to modify the boat, or for when they find just the right hull. Sadly,...

Re: Building a Steam Launch
Hi Ethan You have certainly done the right thing to join the Forum and ask lots of questions. The guys here have all the knowledge you might ever need, or will point you in the right direction to find it. However, I don't think anybody has asked you what I think might be two important questions: 1. ...

Re: My New Engine
Well done! The engine looks magnificent. Sorry, I have not had a look around the forum for a while so missed it.
On with the boat next?
Best wishes

Re: position of boiler and engine in new launch
Hi Folks Jumping back to the original thread of this theme can I offer my experiences? I was very concerned in the building of Frances Ann that she would float the wrong way up, never mind being down at the head or stern. To assuage my fears, I spent a great deal of time with a spreadsheet adding th...

Re: Steamboat sound recording near SE Asia
Hi Picking up on your question, it is worth noting that in hobby steam boating where the boats and engines are small, one can get a different sound from a worn engine compared to a well maintained one. Little end bearings in some engine designs are lighter than ideal and tend to wear, leading to kno...

Re: Next Weekend II
Well done! Congratulations from across the water. Don't new white painted bilges look wonderful? But why do we paint them white when a few trips down they are going to be somewhat on the wrong side of 'off white'! (or is that just my boat...) Hope you get her in the water soon. I'm looking forward t...

Beckmanns Boatshop Website
Hi Folks
I have just heard from Mr Beckmann that his hosting company have now made the Boatshop website accessible to everybody again. I have done a test from the UK and it works fine. So happy browsing (drooling?)
Regards

Re: Looking for a simple start.
Hi Folks Unfortunately that website is blocked for some reason. It seems the hosting service used by Beckmann Boatshop has been suffering serious attacks by hackers. To reduce the pressure they are blocking all traffic that originates from outside the USA. Those of us outside the US can still contac...

Re: An out-there idea.
Hi Folks I have finally put my hand on the details of the twin hull steam launch in South America. The article is in Funnel Issue 60 of July 1989, and the article is entitled "Nuts in Brazil" by J A Thornton. The gentleman concerned is not somebody I know and there is no Member of that name in the S...

Hi Folks I have bought myself a smart phone as a birthday present and, having discovered it has video capabilities, have tried it out. Here is the result: http://youtu.be/_sFroHKTddg The quality will improve for the future when I work out how to avoid keeping a finger over the lense... Regard...
