Re: An out-there idea.

Hi Folks I have just spotted this thread, and it has triggered a memory of a report that I saw in the SBA's Funnel Magazine. It was a of a journey undertaken by four blokes down one of the big South American rivers. They had a Stuart Turner 6a, two hulls set up with a platform between on which the e...

Re: Safety Protocol / Shut down Procedures

No, I would disagree. The heading was 'safety protocol/shutdown procedures', so a generic checklist such as Pat's could form a useful basis for a boater to write his/her own. To ignore some of the items on the checklist could easily lead one into unsafe territory. The one you posted is excellent, bu...

Re: Safety Protocol / Shut down Procedures

Hi Folks I came across the listing below in Funnel Issue 38 (pp 50-51). The author was Pat Weiland. It looks a good generic checklist that can be tailored to the specifics of one's own steam launch. " PREPARATION HULL 1. Visual damage check. 2. Warps, anchor, lock windlass, first aid kit, fire extin...

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time there was a pretty little steam launch whose cruel owners regularly neglected and mistreated her. She was left outdoors in the winter rains, snow storms and gales and got all cold, wet and worse. And then in the spring she was left near a nice big steam yacht, but still not close en...

Re: Frances-Anne

Hi Folks Thought you might like to see that Frances Ann now has some company in the boathouse. At water level she has been joined by the Frolic 21, Bruin. Somwhat higher up she has some new feathered friends who are wonderful to watch, but do have a tendency to lack care in their toilet habits... Yo...

Re: Frances-Anne

Hi Ken and Friends Yes, I would agree that the Lake District is not to be missed. I would choose that over London any time. We have just had another brief visit riding on the tails of Hurricane Bertha, so that our expectations were fairly low. However, the weather turned better than expected and so ...

Re: LoadRite Trailer Details

Thanks Mike, You have given me an idea. I too have various anchor points, one of which is a ground anchor. However, I had only ever thought about those in the context of parking the empty trailer. In that context, it gets squeezed into a 'dead' triangle of our frontage next to the garage. However th...

Re: LoadRite Trailer Details

Hi Mike and fellow steamboaters Yes, controlling the trailer when off the vehicle is a problem. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af181/PeteThePen1/Frances%20Anne/IMG_0350_zps7758dbec.jpg My Mr Shifta caravan mover (see above) has been good for the empty trailer, but is pretty well at the limit of...
