the engine I have welded of steel, the liners are steel, cast iron piston rings, the bearings are white metal and my own version off klugs valve gear. almost the whole engine is built of scrap I had lying around. flywheel for example is from a vw engine lots of work :) http://i1022.photobucket.com/a...

Yes I have thought about one way bearings, but now I've become familiar with the clicking, and its only in reverse.
no original I think it had a hotbulb Engine.
It is 30 ft x 10 ft and it weighs i guess about 13000 lbs

Hey No the hull is an old logging tug but I extended the hull 5 ft. because it was so short and wide (10 ft. wide) And yes the ratchet mechanism is clicking in reverse, tried at first building a soundless but did not work so well (lots of smoke in the boat when it reversed) the other blocking plate ...

Hey On my boat, I have a belt driven fan and air pre-heater. It makes approximately 2 knots improvement on my wide (10 ft) and heavy hull, the air is heated to 160-185 F before it goes to the ash Pan. It worked! And a picture of the Engine 4 1/2" +7 1/4" x 5 1/2" 115 +185x140 mm. No casting all welded steel.
