Re: Winter restoration

From what one can see in your picture she is looking pretty good right now. I look forward to the photos in the Spring when you have finished the restoration. Just as an aside, I think I will admit to suffering garage envy. Here in the UK folk always express amazement that our double garage is 21ft ...

Re: Hallo from the Lake District in Holland

Welcome Frank! What a wonderful story you tell. I am so glad that you are still talking to your wife... Thinking about your steam plant, I wonder if there might be somebody out there trying to restore a nice steamer hull that was de-steamed in the past and is left with a modern motor. Perhaps it mig...

Re: Merry Christmas

It still sounds as if somebody naughty has got into our system. There is no reason for anybody to be advertising on the Forum without the Webmaster's permission. Wonder if it will happen this side of the pond? News news News Regards Pete Edit - Looks as if it requires a lower case N to pick up the t...

Re: Steam blower

Hi Mike I seem to recall that SBMSL has one if not two articles on blowers if you want to look up the 'technical' side. However, you can easily get away with very crude. I have just popped out to check what is on Frances Ann and see that the 1/4" blower pipe ends in absolutely nothing, yet it seemed...

Re: Experimental Instrumentation

Just a quick thought on the electronics side. The Raspberry Pi is a full computer with excellent I/O facilities and about the size of a fag packet, so would be ideal for this sort of application, especially if you want portability. It runs on 5V, so battery power or a solar panel could power it all ...

Re: Cabin/Saloon Launch

Hi Frank In terms of Bluebell, if you are a member of the SBA (which I imagine you will be by now), you can use the Members listing to contact the owners. I am sure that they will be happy to send you interior photos, and maybe an invitation to visit too. I shall be writing up the logic of how the i...

Re: Hand Feed Pump Plans

Thanks for the update Ron. Yes, I did have a good browse of eBay, but the best offer was about $110 before shipping. Perhaps we ought to use the sales section of the Forum to flag up bargains if we spot them. The trouble is that one has be trawling eBay a good deal to spot that sort of thing. Updati...

Re: Hand Feed Pump Plans

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I love the bronze filter that you referenced Ron, but I fear that will have to wait until I win the lottery. The advisory shipping costs and import duty amounted to over $70 before taking into account the fact that none of the reasonably priced vendor...

Re: Christmas outing

Great Stuff! Steaming on Christmas day in the Northern Hemisphere. I thought that all you folks across the pond were wood burners. I was surprised to hear that you actually burn coal. Actually, now I can see clearly the mess that burning coal has left in the my boat, I think I might convert to wood....
