Wanted - antidote for poor record keeping issue

Hi Everybody I am just re-examining the work I have done on the Fairlight Hull project for the mono-tube.org site, Next up is thrust bearings. Some time last year there was a discussion of them on this site which I cannot now find. Some very kind person posted up some pictures of his fabulous home b...

Re: Steam Thistle Cluaran

Hi Russ Many thanks for that information on the tacho and the links. I will certainly get myself one of your kits but I have long buoycotted Amazon for their apalling labour practices. I suspect that the same items will turn up elsewhere. On the topic of propellors I am toying with designs for a DIY...

Re: New Member

Hi Perry As a postscript I will update the Steam Boat Association of GB's website as I picked up Dauntless as being for sale and had posted the ad in our Worldwide sales and wants section. The SBA is a worldwide group and has many members in the USA not to mention having a quarterly magazine. The la...

Re: New Member

Welcome Perry! You have a nice looking boat there which, after a little TLC, will turn heads wherever you go. Having the engine up front is not that daft/unusual. My former boat Frances Ann had the engine in front of the boiler so as to allow a reasonable amount of room for the skipper and crew. Hop...

Re: Monotube Javelin

Hi Mike What a wonderful site but as Russ said, it gets to your eyes. Coming back to the issue of safety valves or relief vales there is an article in SteamBoating Magazine (Issue 17-6) by Tony Anderson which includes them. The the photos and diagrams are still on the website and can be downloaded. ...

Re: Rivet for boiler dutch steamtug www.Dockyardv.nl

Hi Jeroen Whilst rivets are not my speciality, I do quite well at internet searching. I wondered if you had found Jay-Cee Sales and Riverts inc [https://www.rivetsonline.com/rivets] a US company that has rivets of the right diameter, but are not advertising the length you want. If contacted they mig...

Re: Towards Building a Steam Powered Outboard Motor

Nice pattern! Pattern making has always appealed to me as a special form of wood working. However, having no access to local iron foundaries I have never gone down that path. Good to see it done well.

Re: Towards Building a Steam Powered Outboard Motor

Hi Elver Just a sideways thought for you. Do have a look at the twin cylinder engine that Dietrich has designed and nearly finished building: https://thesteamboatingforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2405 It is a nice elegant design and possibly small enough for the task you are suggesting. Regards...

Re: A High Speed Twin

Well done! That is exceellent news. Will you have the opportunity to nip over to the New England Wireless and Steam Museum or is that several days journey (I didn't look to see if your post included your location)?

Best wishes
