Re: TWIN 32 x 38 mm - steam engine for small boats or canoes
Hi, there was an other little step. One part of the reversing gear was made. The body was lasercutted, the distance blocks were turned and then silver soldered. The holes for the mounting bolts have been countersunk so that the bolt heads are flush with the surface. I have built a right and a left h...

Re: Not Something You See Every Day
Kelly, nice picture, what is Stocked's speed? A few years ago we (Rainer Radow, his brother and I) were out and about with Rainer Radow's EMMA on the Berlin lakes. To keep the beer cool we hung the bottles on strings outboard. To my great surprise, however, they behaved like surfboards and came to t...

Re: TWIN 32 x 38 mm - steam engine for small boats or canoes
Hello, the throttle valve linkage is mechanically finished. There are IGLIDUR-bushings in the lever and the bolts in the forks are screwed in (M5 x 0,5 mm) and secured with a lock nut. It is possible to clamp the lever in in any desired position. Twin3238_447kl.jpg Twin3238_448kl.jpg Twin3238_449kl....

Re: TWIN 32 x 38 mm - steam engine for small boats or canoes
The throttle slide valve is finished. The valve has a recess that reduces the effective valve area when opened. This reduces the force required for actuation. Twin3238_437kl.jpg Twin3238_440kl.jpg Twin3238_442kl.jpg The valve area without recess is 1.1 cm², with recess only 0.63 cm². This reduces th...

Throttle-Quadrant is soldered
Hello, the throttle quadrant is built from parts. They are silver soldered. I did it a little differently than what I drew. This makes it easy to align the handle of the regulator lever in any desired direction. There is an M3 bolt to allow the quadrant to be secured in any desired position using a ...

Re: TWIN 32 x 38 mm - steam engine for small boats or canoes
Hello Mark,
i'm very sorry, but the engine is designed in 3D, so there are currently no classic 2D drawings.
When the engine is finished and successfully tested, I may create a set of drawings, but that is uncertain.

Re: TWIN 32 x 38 mm - steam engine for small boats or canoes
Hi,
then the forks were rounded so they will look nice and go free from other parts. I had built a milling fixture and panned the parts by hand.
Then the borings were reamed and the M5 x 0,5 mm threads cutted.

Re: TWIN 32 x 38 mm - steam engine for small boats or canoes
Hi, kozos books are one of the best i know. The eccentric rods are ready. It is a composite construction. The head is soldered to the middle part and that is fixed with three M3-screws to the outer eccentric bodies. I have built a soldering fixture so all four rods will have the equal length. Twin32...
