CANGARDA is my all time favorite steam yacht.
I followed her most unlikely restoration progress.

Oh for an extra huge pile of money...

I would snap that up, but it won't fit in my garage...

There are some interesting videos of her passage from San Francisco through the Panama Canal and up the east coast of the US.
'Looks like it was quite an adventure.

Would make a nice tender for our steam launches 😂

There was a video of her on YouTube racing the steam yacht Medea in San Diego, but the video has since been made private unfortunately.

If I recall correctly, after San Diego she was steamed south to a port in Mexico where she was loaded onto the deck of a ship and transported through the Panama Canal.

I have some more video from John York of when they were still in the San Francisco bay trying to tune the computer boiler controls. Lots of trial and error.

That price is comical, must've used a tumbola. Beautiful boat, for the money, I'd rather have ENA.

Considering that Cangarda has a brand new welded steel hull surrounding all that original interior, $5Meg sounds pretty reasonable to me.
And I would also take ENA in a minute!

Here's a post with some pictures on Cangarda's Boiler touchscreen controls:

One of the videos says the Cangarda boiler weighs 14 tons. I wonder what the cruising/top speed fuel consumption rates are on such a large steam yacht.

If I recall correctly the basket of parts for Cangarda was going for $500,000 in 2002...

I believe the new hull with original machinery (new boiler), and original interior/deckhouses cost something like $10mil in 2009.
