Hey Gents,
Anybody want to sell me a hand pump for boiler feeding purposes? I mainly want it for my little "toy" boiler (7sq ft. vft) so it doesn't need to move a lot of water. I'd be grateful for any referrals or suggestions as well.
Thanks!
-Mike

Hi mike must have missed your request! Get a pump big enough to fill the boiler quickly-when the water disappears from the site-glass you want the water back and back quick! check the NWSS site under "links" here's an example.

Hey Den, thanks for that suggestion! I noticed that those kits have some machining required for assembly. Any idea how much? I have a pretty limited setup right now...

Pumps used for hyrdo testing fire-hoses make great hand feed-pumps., and are pretty readily available. A little large for some boats though.

Re: WTB: Boiler feed hand pump
Hi Mike
I fell for the long handled pump on the Beckmann website simply because it looked "right". It is probably way to big for my needs and would be for yours, not to mention the price. However, look at the illustrations closely and you will see just how simple it is. The two clacks are off the shelf items simply plumbed on either side of the plunger body. The piston is simply a great chunk of round brass brass bar. The links are simply flat bar, while the handle is a casting. That could easily be replaced with round mild steel bar suitably turned to make a handle and ornamented. Hey presto, a small replica for not a lot of cash at all.
With your metal working skills that ought to be a simple job, but would be way beyond me. I could do the pen pushing bit and create the drawing...!
Regards
Pete
