I've wanted to build a steam boat for thirty years. I bought a small lathe 25 years ago and built several model engines. A local friend's father was a tool and die maker and his (unheated) shop is no longer used but still has electricity. He offered me the use of it to build an engine and I started on a Tiny Power 3x4 two years ago. Finished the machining last week (using a pre WW1 change gear lathe) and am starting the fitting and finishing of the parts. Pland to build a boiler this winter (leaning towards a Yarrow or Ofeldt) but haven't decided on the type yet. Also haven't decided on a hull but thinking about a Compromise 21 or having a local builder who has moulds for a similar 17 footer extend his hull three feet and build it up in glassed cedar strip. Hope to get some boiler suggestions and later fitting out suggestions for the engine/boiler....Dave
