My dad has been altering the boiler to give it a better ash pan and steam pipe routes.

Interesting boiler. What is the white insulation stuff on the inside?
And what are the drums and pipes made of?

The white stuff is thermal ceramic board heat insulation.

The boiler pressure vessle is steel drums with expanded copper tubes .

There will also be a thermal ceramic cloth to insulate the sides of the boiler casing. This is the same as the thermal ceramic board only flexible.
