Thanks for verifying that.
Mine is probably the same.
Good products, lousy documentation...

Re: Steam Thistle Cluaran
My one cylinder engine can tick over fairly slowly but not, I suspect, below perhaps 20 r.p.m. Without a MUCH larger flywheel, that is!

Re: Steam Thistle Cluaran
Hi,
i received all the parts and checked their function using a breadboard.
I swung the magnet past the sensor by hand to check the display. That worked.
Tomorrow I will mount the setup on the lathe to check the accuracy of the gauge.
The 9V battery will be installed in the case. Then there is the switch for the supply voltage of the tachometer.

Re: Steam Thistle Cluaran
Excellent.
¥ou obviously read the instructions and found the correct magnet pole for triggering the display.
It is interesting to me to read the 1 and 2 star reviews on Amazon, and see that the users did not read the instructions!
Always entertaining to me to see those mistakes being made. Unnecessarily.
Glad you are making yours work.
And I look forward to seeing your final product.

RPM-Display finished
Hi Russ,
the RPM-display is mechanically and electrically finished. It was successfully tested for function on my Variospeed drill (OPTIdrill DQ20V).

Some more pictures.
The waterproof on-off switch on the bottom of the case.
The watertight cable bushing on the left side of the housing. At the same time, it is the strain relief for the cable to the sensor. The function test on the drill A short video is available - https://youtu.be/amB2uzrcn6g
Hope it enjoys and is helpful for anybody who wants to built such device. I will use it at all my different engines, which is why I will build universal mounts for the sensor and display.

Dietrich:
Delighted to see your finished RPM meter!
It looks really well laid out and constructed, as we expect from you.
Hopefully it will meet your needs.
And we have now shared two versions of this device, for others to copy and modify.
Time to steam! (...except for the continued snow outside...)
