Like the others say - congratulations on completing a lovely boat Piet. You must have a very large smile today.

Piet,

I wish you glad tidings and congratulations on a job exceptionally well done!

Bless "Panatela" and all who sail on her!

She looks like she has a serious speed on the water!

Congratulations!

Dave

I also realise that we are in the wrong place with the discussion about compound engine ajustment details.
Lets move to engine stuf.

Piet

Also a large congratulation from here. Panatela looks just great. Please keep us updated on performance data as you measure alonge.

Best regards
Jørgen

Yes Please! I am very interested in such things! boiler pressure, engine cut-off, condenser pressure, wind speed, prop pitch and diameter......we have very similar boats, except my boat is a 6" wider......so I am very curious!

She really does look wonderful Piet. You should be very proud of your efforts. They are well deserved!

Thank you all again, for the kind words.
Dave, she has an:
14X20 prop. Shaft is 1 1/4 inch thick steel.
The boiler can give 185/200 pounds steam a hour. Pressure max 150psi. Fired on paraffine whit a Blackstaff 3 norzel burner whit a work pressure of 10 psi on it.
With a pressure of 110 psi, the engine ( 120 years old Easton&Johnson 1,5+3X3,5 ) runs 456 rev/min ( elektric handheld revelution counter) Vacuum 10/12 hg with a Jabsco pump.
The condensor is 2 times 5/8 ?( 15mm ) copper pipe 4 feet long.
She is doing then 6,4 nm/hour on the GPS navigator
Measuring was two ways ( in the wind and whith the wind, no current )
Wave hight about 1 feet.
Turn around in 3 lengts of the boat. ( port en starboard almost the same )
All the glands are leaking badly, the are fitted whit new gaskets ( cotton and grease ) I want to tightened them slowly.
Reversing??? ( single slip ) well it works.......thats all I want to say about it.

Regards Piet

Dear Dave

Thanks for the tips. I think I shall just go for the moulded beading round the top as you suggest, as I am building up the coaming thickness using ply (My attempts to steam and bend mahogany were rubbish!)

Sorry for the slow response. I did not get time to browse much over the Christmas period.

Regards

Pete
