Thanks, everyone. It's a thrill to have it all come together.

I am grateful for Kelly's kind assistance over the last eleven years. Our skills are asymmetrical, which is a boon. He gladly does my machining; I'm thrilled to weld and all the other odd tasks.

I wouldn't say "asymmetrical" so much as "complimentary".

I have apologized to Steve and his wife for screwing up his life twelve or so years back, when I lent him a copy of The Steam Launch, thinking that he would find it mildly interesting. Little did I know that he would come by a couple of weeks later to say that he was going to build one.

And the rest, as they say, is history.
It was not easy to convince Allnutt. All his shop training had given him a profound prejudice against inexact work, experimental work, hit-or-miss work.

I never gave the book back as liquidated damages ...

It's Mystic Eve! The rig is in the driveway, ready to cast off at 0300.

Congratulations to Steve, winning "Best of Show" at the Mystic Wooden Boat Show , a show with many boats entered in the "million dollar" price range, the judges could see the years of excellent work Steve put into his new steamer

Here is the winning boat underway at the dock in Mystic. Steve is in the pith helmet.

Thanks, Wes! We were glad just to show up ... Like Fred said, there were a lot of "funny money" boats at that show, with finishes one could shave in. The judges' introduction to the award was thus: "For best of show, owner-built, we chose a boat that demonstrates amazing mechanical prowess coupled with a maniacal attention to detail ..." I knew about the "maniacal" part, but always assumed that was a liability ...

Appreciate your support over the years,
Steve
