Rainer, it was on the job training. I give some points in the one blog post. But as John says, it is best learned rolling in light. One can roll a tube tighter if there is leakage, but one can't "un-roll" an over-rolled tube. Your sheet ligaments will thank you too.

All the best,
Steve

Informative videos Steve, any heavier stay tubes used or are they all doing the job of stays. Is it a dryback?

No sign of Beaumaris Instrument Co, your engine builder/designer, when I was in Beaumaris late last year and I was told the drawings and patterns are now in Germany. Looks as if your launch is going to be a cracker (slang for a good'un).

Cheers

John, they are all serving as stays. Our code requires a minimum of beading on the combustion chamber end and flaring on the smokebox end. Though as any boilermaker knows, the roll in the sheet does all of the holding.
Is it a dryback?
Yes, sir.

Yes, that's what I have heard @ Beaumaris. By the mercies, I received prints with the engine. I am working at Iona so she'll be a "cracker." Her namesake, my mother, certainly was. But you all will be the judge of that at the end of the day. Thanks for the encouragement!

Mike,

You know us American cousins - can't do a thing until we have all the gear and quadruple the space ...
