Uncle Jack:

Thanks for the link. I had visited Mr Mill's site once before, never dreaming I would eventually own one ... I'm in the process of carefully blueprinting and fitting No. 5 as it goes back together.

Cordially,
Steve

Spent part of RMS Titanic Eve running in the crankshaft. About six hours at 200 turns.

Here's the power for the break-in rig. An old split phase quarter-horse Dunlap hooked up to a rheostat. Oh, and for those who must know, the rail is section of 152 lbs RE I found out along the main line.

While the crankshaft was purring away, I'm working on the third coat of topsides paint ...

Looks like very nice paint jobs on both the hull and engine, what are you using? Very appropriate weight you have for holding down that electric motor.

Thanks for the encouragement, men.

Fred, the engine paint is original. Appears to be some kind of enamel. The topsides on the hull is Interlux Brightside black. The bottom coat is some kind of Petit copper for trailer/racing boats - I'll have to go out to the shop and see what it is called. It weighs about 25 lbs gallon -

Wow that is looking great!

The Mills compounds were offered with a special enamel paint on their "show quality" engines.. I think I have a copy of one of their early brochures somewhere...
