I was reently contacted by a man who purchased an Ashton 3 chime whistle a few years ago. It's a beauty and he sent me some pictures? I'm leaning towards a steamboat whistle. What do you think?

I recently picked up an old Ashton pop safety valve. The tag reads Crosby-Ashton, Wrentham Mass so I can date the valve to some time after 1948, when the company had merged with Crosby and moved out of Cambridge to Wrentham.

1877, the company first incorporated in Hartford CT. I recently was able to obtain a copy of the letter from the Hartford Daily Courant which is attached below along with a photo of one of the first stock certificates.
