At 15seconds into the video they demonstrate this steam whistle that has a second lever to change the length of the resonance chamber of this special steam whistle.

The official term for that is a "mockingbird" whistle.

Thank you, I did not know the name!

Knowing the correct name, youtube gave me another video of a Mocking Bird whistle at a Whistle Blow event from 2013.

This mockingbird whistle might have been used for a fire department to wake up the fire fighters!

That all rather sounds like fun, but what leaky valves! Looks like they need some of the Forum engineers around to sort out the leaks.

I think for a whistle blow event, you really should have at least 1 isolation valve for each whistle on the manifold. If you run such an event, the organizers can't really know if the whistles people are bringing are in good working order.

Once a long time ago I fired up my old boiler on land with a steam siren, and the valve that was part of the siren failed open. I didn't have an isolation valve, so I had to dump the fire, blow down the boiler, and call it a day.

Since then I don't trust any built in valves, I have an isolation valve for each of my two three note whistles.

I had the same issue with a whistle on my boat.. luckily the monotube boiler doesn't have much capacity... Still an embarrassing 5 minutes of constant whistling
