Flag Pole Socket
I decided to make my own flush mounted flag pole socket. Three pieces brazed together, made with brass scraps. Polished up very nice, one problem tho.....

Re: Flag Pole Socket
Not knowing where you intend to mount it and which flag it's for, I'll take a shot... Is it built with the rake in the wrong direction?

Getting that flat bracket through the hole in the deck?

Re: Flag Pole Socket
The rake is good, but mounting the piece would be difficult with the bottom brace (which screws to the inside of the transom) much bigger than the hole in the deck.
One way would be to grow the wood deck around the piece after it was screwed to the transom, but that would take great gardening skills, an far too much time.
I ended up cutting the tube about an inch above the bottom brace, and fitting another tube telescoping over the original one. Then I can mount the lower piece from inside the hull, all the while feeling like an idiot.

Re: Flag Pole Socket
Good eye Ron
at least there was a relatively easy solution. I was removing a transfer case from a transmission in a customer's truck and using an expensive, but non-reversable, ratcheting boxed-end wrench in a very tight and inaccessible spot. It was all working perfectly until the nut and wrench were stuck between the transfer case and the transmission with still much more travel needed on the nut.. A solution was found, after much profanity, cutting in the blind with a die grinder and mirrors, and a new REVERSEABLE wrench.

The lower bracket really shoudln't be needed, most of those just mount flush on the deck. That brazed joint is extremely strong.
