Hi,

some more pictures.

The windows in the tube were milled and the sharp corners were filed.

The small slot for the steam.

The three parts of the spider were soldered together. The procedure was more easy then expected. Three slots were milled into the base and a second part with also three slots held them in place while soldering. The diameter of the spider was a bit bigger than the inner diameter of the tube. So i had to turn it down to shape.

Hi,

the base with spider and the tube were soldered together with a high temperature soft solder.

Then i have tested it with steam and what did i hear - no sound, just a hiss. I found the cause in the excessive distance between the base and the upper edge of the window in the bell. So i have minimized them to a high of 10 mm. I had to make some parts - a ring made of a sheet metal strip, three sheet metal segments and a turned ring. All them were held in position while soldering with some 1 mm copper rivets.

Three tuning stops were made. Each was set in position, steam tested, and then soldered in.

The picture with the Christmas windmill (I forgot the german name for it despite being german - Weihnachtsmühle or Weihnachtsrad?) is obligatory :)

Anyways, I really like the way you work. You have a very clean, systematic and precise way to build things.

Excuse my occasional long response time. It's caused by the side effects from ptsd.
