Staurt Turner 6A Drawings

A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

Staurt Turner 6A Drawings

Post by gondolier88 » Wed Feb 04, 2015 7:14 pm

I wonder if anyone has copies of the drawings for the 6A that I could have/copy?

They don't need to be in good condition as I don't intend to build an engine to the drawings, rather; redesign the 6A. It would be good to see how ST drew the engine as the engine I have appears to be slightly different in a couple of dimensions from the few critical dimensions I can get from the website so to prepare drawings for anyone else to use if they wished I could do with being able to write notes on the design changes based on the differences between the original design and my own.

Thanks for your help.

A friend of mine have redesigned it with a plus height of 50 mm and turned columns. Its all based on photocopies and hand drawing with pencil. Would that be of interest?

Best regards

Jorgen,

Thanks, that's an interesting offer, but I'll decline on this occasion- it's really just a copy of the originals I'm after.

His design sounds broadly similar to my proposed revisions however- I don't suppose you would have any pictures just out of interest?

Greg,
"Steamboats and Modern Steam Launches" on page 18 & 19 July-August 1961 has plans for a Stuart #6. I could scan the pages if it would be of any use for your project. Not a Stuart expert so I don't know how much the 6 and 6A differ.

Good Luck

Thanks Dave,

I've had an offer of a set of drawings on loan so all sorted!

I still haven't got round to getting a copy of that book...!

Greg

If you look at the SBA website - in the register seek "Boat under construction" and/or Denmark Area you will find Lars Hansens boat.

There are a few pictures showing the fabrication status, just to give you an idea.

Best regards
