NEW TYPE OF ENGINE

A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

Sorry...I saw Hybrid Piston/turbine in the first post and assumed there was a recip in there somewhere.

Have'nt had the need to determine the flow through a turbine recently.....it will depend on the nozzle flow coefficient and the pressure drop though.

Pete, the only real way to test it is to build your own boat.

This is not as difficult as you may first think. Find yourself a 7 foot dinghy, I am sure there must be plenty going spare up in Scotland. Then you want a small boiler, capably of 150psi working pressure and 100 lb an hour.

The prop shaft is easy to come by, and you can calculate the prop size to fit the engine and the hull speed.
I've got the vehicle, just need the boat.
