do I need it? Or does it just look good?
The boat coming up for sale has a duplex pump in it. In my boat I have an injector, hand pump, and a boiler feed pump run off of the engine. What would this pump replace on my boat? How much steam does it use compared to an injector.I realize thats almost like asking how long a piece of string is but it appears either we already know everything about steam or everyone is too busy preparing our boats for spring they don't have time to ask any new questions Anyway here's a couple of questions worth commenting on. Thanks Den

Isn't looking good the only reason you should need?

Den,
Such a desirable pump in your over-equipped launch would be unnecessary, therefore essential.
My 2 cents.

I know this is an old post but to answer your question...
A separate steam pump is more efficient than an injector in that it uses about a fifth of the steam to pump the required amount of water into the boiler. You often read that an injector is 98% efficient, but that is just looking at heat transfer. As far a work is concerned for steam used a separate duplex pump beats it hands down.
So in the name of efficiency, you need a separate pump.

I know the answer!
To "how long is a piece of string"...............................................
twice the length it was when folded double.
As for the rest I'll leave that to you experts.
