Post by TahoeSteam » Mon Aug 25, 2014 5:25 am

I would like to extend an invitation to all steam nuts, both large and small, to attend the 40th annual Great Delta Steamboat Meet at the B&W Resort and Marina, 964 Brannan Island Rd, Isleton, CA 95641 phone:(916) 777-6161

The meet will run from Thursday September 25th through Monday, September 29th with most attendees arriving Thursday or Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday afternoon.

Activities include a cruise to the Saturday picnic, swap meet, potluck dinner, and Sunday morning cruise to breakfast.

Come steam and explore the beautiful delta for the 40th year running...

I didn't get much in the way of pictures or video this year.

There were fewer boats this year, but we were blessed with a couple that had not been seen in many a moon also.

I wasn't able to bring my boat due to being on the King fire until the day before the meet, but at least I was actually able to make it (thank the lord for rain!).

I will get pictures up in a couple days and video up when I get a new computer.

Gerry Blain's "Shenandoah" 27.5'x6.5' Blain/Leutza hull, 3+5x4" Blain/Leutza steeple compound, roberts HWT boiler.

Steam Launch "Phoenix"

23'x7' built by the late Richard Burleigh.

3+5x4" Burleigh compound with wood fired VFT/WT "combination" boiler (conventional dry leg VFT with watertube firebox fitted. Steams great!)

For sale by Jim Hussey, along with his 25ft "compromise" launch "Sea Horse" (vft30, Scripps 3+5.5x4" compound). Each launch $25k with their respective trailer. Jim says he'll keep whichever one doesn't sell first.

The water hyacinth http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eichhornia_crassipes was a real issue this year. Our regular picnic area was chock full of the stuff. We attempted to navigate into it with the "Phoenix" but only succeeded in getting about 30ft, so we steamed to the Tower Park Marina to eat at their picnic tables. At Tower Park there was a military vehicle show and lots of people dressed up in their interpretations of military garb.

Wes, I was wondering about that King fire and its proximity to you. Trust you and yours made it through.
