Fairbanks, Morse & Co. 3 x 2 x 4

A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

Fairbanks, Morse & Co. 3 x 2 x 4

Post by csonics » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:00 pm

So while cruising craigslist the other day I found an old Fairbanks, Morse & Co. 3 x 2 x 4 duplex for sale at I price I couldn't refuse. She's is in need of some tlc but all-in-all in pretty good shape. From what I can see, she is missing a couple of pump valves and a reach rod.
I know that worthington still makes parts for their old pumps but does Fairbanks? Anybody know a good supplier?

Thanks,

-Mike

Yeah it's a pretty good find and in remarkable condition considering how old it is and that it's been sitting in somebody's garage pulled apart for 20 years. There is minor rust and a LOT of oil and dust turned crude that I have been chipping away at but I think I should have her running shortly. I'll post some pictures soon ;)
