That is a bargain! Better get some paint on it quick before it blooms.

If you still need a little encouragement come June, Don Mentzer hosts the Kalmath Lake meet on the second weeekend. Don is in his 41st year running Idltime, a 16 foot lifeboat with original hull build date of 1903. There will probably be three other life boats steaming (4 total) at this gig although the other three are a little larger. Probably the most beneficial reason to travel to Klamath is Don himself being a true encylopedia of steam boating...rivalling the knowledge base of those Northern Washington steam boaters.

A good portion of the roberts style watertube boilers in launches on the West Coast were built by him as well.

I finished the crosshead boiler feed pump, rebuilding the engine, new rings and bearing brasses, lagging, polishing, ss bolts, cylinder cocks, new stephenson link handwheel, lubricators, and added a steamchest pressure gauge

The boiler arrived ! I couldnt wait to get it set in the boat, now to pin down the exact locations of the boiler and engine so I can start laying the decking.

coming soon a finished steam boat , love the color. It looks like she will move from meet to meet with minimal hassel . oughta slide through the water like a duck too.
