Bret,

Your boat is looking superb and you've done a masterful job finishing it out. I looked at the tambour online and the place I found it was $179  for a piece 27 X 50. On this boiler, it would take 3 sheets. A little pricy. We'll just mill up some stock. And too, I'd like to use some other domestic hardwood, whatever that may be to break it up a bit.

Have you ran it yet? When you do, I'd like to see a video if you can. Interesting engine.

Thanks, Ron

I have been working on the piping, boy that takes up alot of time. I also am working on the canopy, starting with the stainless angle frame, light gauge, but hopefully will be nice and sturdy.

On another note, we are goung to ride on the SS Badger this weekend, a 450' coal fired quad expansion car ferry across Lake Michigan. I am going to try and get a tour of the engineroom, will post photos if I can get down there!

The boat ran great. Bret is a very knowledgeable steamguy, he brought the boat to the meet, never ran it before IIRC, and it ran for three days flawlessly.

Seems he segway'd interest to another steam vehicle, and sold the boat. A guy here local bought it. He is supposed to have it up at our meet this year. Nice boat.

Oh, the other steam vehicle is a full scale Western style locomotive on a truck chassis with rubber tires, that he drives around his neighborhood. Most remarkable steam vehicle I've ever seen. Visualize a steam locomotive coming down the street whistle blaring. I'll try to find the video. Someone said this may be or is a Lombard log hauler chassis and engine/boiler?.

Here it is:

Another guy local here is building a Locomobile Racer with twin engines. Pretty wild, I'll post some pics in the Anoraks Corner.
