Even during the very best of economic times, I cannot remember a steam boat selling for even half of the investment.mtnman wrote:You may not have noticed but times are tough and money is tight right now. I didn't think it would break 10k, suprised me. It was still a No Sale. What was the reserve? Heck, I've got a piece of riverfront property for sale, 3 years ago the place next door (Only half as large) sold for $250,000, today I can't get anyone interested in mine at $175,000.87gn@tahoe wrote:No appreciation for the time and effort placed into making one, especially one of this caliber.
Think about all the details that went into that boat.. Thousands of man hours at today's price of a minimum of $50/hr.

For a long time I dabbled in the Street Rod market. Something I learned is that you buy a completed Rod if you want to save money. It always cost more to build one over buying a completed one.87gn@tahoe wrote:Even during the very best of economic times, I cannot remember a steam boat selling for even half of the investment.mtnman wrote:You may not have noticed but times are tough and money is tight right now. I sold my '87 GN for less than half of what I put into it, same will happen to my '64 Riviera if I ever sell it.
