Ken, just remember "If you build it they will come", it being the boat of course and they being the suitable road locomotive to tow it.
I am with Steve and Lopez Mike, build it, life is uncertain, time goes fast, improvise.

Funny, I'm just having to look at a towing vehicle now, after three and one-half years construction. I usually run vehicles into the ditch - metaphorically speaking. My last vehicle capable of towing died about the same time as my mother and my dog (it was a country western music kinda year).
I hate road vehicles and our pathetic dependence on them, but in this case it is a necessary evil to get the boat from point "A" to point "B" ...

Thanks for the responses, it's an enjoyable conversation.
I know a lot can happen in the time frame of the boat build. My point is that I need to determine a design envelope as a starting point. Part of the design criteria is driven by the fact that any tow vehicle is going to be a daily driver. An estate wagon, small sport utility or pickup would all be possibilities but a large truck isn't. If the vehicle ends up being a bit bigger than I am thinking, so be it but if I target a tow weight now then things won't get out of hand.
Anyhow, I'm not worried about it at this point as there is a lot to do before the hull design leaves the drawing board.
I've been away from the design software for a bit as I have been making chips in the shop but I do have a more refined design for the hull and will be posting it soon.

Flattened out the rise to the stern and refined the shape. Displacement is 1.07 tons (long)

I'm going to let it sit for a few weeks before I take another look at it. Gives me a chance to let it sink in and decide if I like what I have or if I need to mess with it some more. When I get to a place where I'm happy with the shape then I'll work on fairing the hull. Then I will start looking for a NA to take a look for any mistakes (or offer suggestions for improvement) and check the stability curves
