It seems I can only post a couple pictures at a time, otherwise I get blocked out of the site. So there's going to be a bunch of separate posts.


Here are some more:

Machining LP balanced slide valve out of solid cast iron:



The centre pieces were left solid so I'd have less waste when I machined the chunks out from the backside:

Machining balance rings on backside of valve. Rotary table is off the mill because we just sold the Jet mill and are getting a larger Bridgeport in the next week from a friend.





Sealing between the valve and the balance ring will with either o-rings or u-cup seals as Mr. Grosjean did on the Wayward Belle.
