My column-style steamengine

A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

Hello,

the condensers stand is ready. I have made it from 2 mm-brass sheet.

That is a remarkably compact and clean installation.

A marvelous piece of work and an example to those of us are rather less skilled metal workers. Please keep going as I want to see what you plan next.

Hi,

today I successfully tested the condenser on my steam engine. Although the connections were only hand-tight and the vacuum manometer was only connected to the condensate collection tank in front of the vacuum pump with a silicone hose, a stable vacuum could be achieved.
The "Sound of Silence" of the engine was very impressive - there was nothing to hear. :o :o :o

Hi,

for those who might be interested in the build of the machine pump unit I show these two sectional images.

That is very beautiful workmanship. Thank you for sharing!!
It was not easy to convince Allnutt. All his shop training had given him a profound prejudice against inexact work, experimental work, hit-or-miss work.

Hi Kelly,

thank you for the comment.

I have redesigned the piston and its rings. There was at first one O-ring as piston-ring. To achieve a better seal, i made a new piston in which i was able to install two X-rings as piston rings.

Looking wonderful Dietrich. I expect you'll be seeing much improvement from the "x" rings.
