Where can I buy nice valves for my boiler, either lever handle or the "wagon wheel" style handle?

Oddly enough, I'm having good luck with Chinese quarter turn lever valves from Harbor Freight. They are rated at 150 psi steam and so far, after two years service, including using one as a throttle valve. No problems. I say oddly enough, because they cost less than $5 each.

Steam valves are still being sold new by your local steam heating supply houses. And I pick them up from my local used building stores once in a while.

I would advise using a real steam valve in most places.

Amazon has good prices on 3/8" Apollo ball valves with 250 PSI steam rating.

For some reason, the 3./8" valves are only $7.36 - 3x cheaper than the 1/2" ones.

I have several of these on my boat in 3/8" and 1/2" sizes; I'm happy with them.

Hi Folks

I seem to recall tht we had a thread on which type of valve should be used in which application. However, I cannot seem to find it, nor can I persuade the search engine to look. Apparently valve is too common a word...! Does anybody happen to know the location please?
