Hello!
I´d like to Know if thre is a need for a permission for operatig steam boilers on small boats.
The licence to operate privately owned boats may not include boilers.Are there differences in this respect within Europe?

Hallo Achim,
for privately owned and operated boilers in Germany I know of no case
where a boiler operator's licence was required (I could be wrong).
All the relevant laws are only applicable for commercially employed persons.
As it is different from state to state you could try this website

A boiler operator training (with certification) at the TÜV-Nord will cost approximately 2000,- €
and is in my eyes overkill.

Last but not least it is important what your insurance company will demand.
In any case you should be prepared to demonstrate enough technical knowledge
about your plant for a safe operation.
