I've been to a few estate auctions and the machine tools are very interesting because many people have no idea what the stuff is...
This saturday I went to one and I spent $130 in total, and if you bought the stuff new, it could be thousands of dollars easily.
No one was putting in a start bid, so I would just jump in and bid $10 for a box and get it, it happened again and again.

My buddy got two full size lathes, one a 1908 Werner? that was intended for overhead line shaft- originally for running off of a stationary horizontal mill steam engine. It had been converted with a transmission and electric motor. He got it for $100!
